Red carpet at the 2008 Academy Awards

And the Oscar goes to....the red gown, which was the major hit of this year ceremony. Rich shades of rose and scarlet red made the parade runner fade away. Among other trends spotted, the one-shoulder dress is set to be this spring's highlight while the mermad silhouette, which Marion Cotillard took it literally, was almost everyone's favorite.

Oscar fantasy dresses

Oscars are only one day ahead and I can hardly wait the red carpet parade (and so is the rest of the fashion world). I guess you've already seen this but I couldn't resist posting it. Style.com asked 10 fashion designers to draw their dream dress for each of the Oscar nominated ladies. It's quite likely that this fashion fantasy will not match up the real Oscar red carpet but it's interesting to see how designers' and actresses' personalities join in to create the perfect dress.
