Copenhagen Fashion Week: Highlights (II)

Some of the best shows at Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2009 included Julie Fagerholt Heartmade, Munthe Plus Simonsen, Rutzou and Vadum:

In 1998 designer Julie Fagerholt launched her pet child project Heartmade brand as an exclusive couture business but two years later the customers' demand got so heavy that she had to launch her first rtw collection which won her a "Golden Button"- the prestigious Danish Fashion Award.

Copenhagen Fashion Week: Highlights (I)

Forget Paris, London and Milan! Stockholm, Berlin and Copenhagen are now the new European fashion centers. The latter one was the home of the Copenhagen Fashion Week festival, held in August, 6th to 9th, which, gathering almost forty fashion labels, made a huge display of the well-known modern-edgy Danish style. Some of the best collections tempered the edge with a feminine appeal.

One of the CFW's highlights is Bibi Ghost, a young Danish designer presenting her second collection at Copenhagen Fashion Week. The label's design aesthetic lies in an atypical mix of playfulness and mature look with unexpected details, of loose volumes and minimalist cuts.

Copenhagen Fashion Week #2

Three more shows from Copenhagen Fashion Week prove the modern approach to women's wear of Danish fashion, expressed in fresh silhouettes and a focus on details.

Preen by Thornton and Bregazzi debuted at London Fashion Week in Spring 2001, and, since then, made its way through the fashion world with its unconventional, fresh look. The label, known for the use of traditional fabric and clean, modern cuts is now sold in over 170 stores worldwide. The Preen Line, targeted towards a younger market, showed its fall/winter 2008 collection at Copenhagen Fashion Week, on February the 10th. The show had a youthful energy sending out hip, edgy and minimalist daywear in a neutral color palette punctuated by splashes of bright blue.

Copenhagen Fashion Week #1

From 6 to 10 February, 2008, Copenhagen was the host of Northern Europe's largest fashion event: Copenhagen Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2008/09. Organized by the Danish Fashion Institute, CFW housed more than forty Danish and international shows along with three trade fairs, CPH Vision, Gallery and Copenhagen International Fashion Fair.

Bitte Kai Rand is one of Denmark's notorious fashion labels. Founded 25 years ago, Bitte Kai Rand stayed true to its design philosophy, which is that of dressing beautifully, comfortably and enjoying the possibility of creating a unique personal look. Its collection for autumn/winter 2008/09 uses a simple color palette, offering a unique interpretation of classic silhouettes, by inventive cuts and details.
